Anne Zakaras, LCPC, ATR-BC (she/her/hers)

Anne Zakaras, MA, LPC, ATR-BC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Board Certified Art Therapist. Anne’s integrative, client-centered approach is rooted in evidence-based psychotherapeutic practices combined with art therapy techniques in order to treat a variety of mental health concerns. Anne offers a warm, open, and collaborative approach when working with clients and their families. Anne’s therapeutic style embraces creativity and the therapeutic relationship emphasizing empathy, respect, and trust.

Anne’s clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults. Anne’s clinical areas of focus include working together with clients to develop effective strategies to cope with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, grief and bereavement, a medical diagnosis or chronic illness, trauma, stress management, and behavior concerns.

Anne earned her Master of Arts in Art Therapy with an emphasis in Counseling Psychology from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and her Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University, Bloomington. Anne completed her clinical internship at the Institute for Therapy through the Arts in Evanston, IL. In addition to her work in private practice, Anne also has clinical experience working onsite in schools, community mental health settings, and in medical settings . Anne has a speciality in working with pediatric medical issues, having completed the Allyn Bromley Fellowship in Art Therapy at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago in July 2020, and continuing to work with Lurie Children’s. Anne has worked on all acute inpatient floors including the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Hematology/Oncology, Transplant, Cardiac, Neurology, Trauma Recovery, and Inpatient Psychiatry.
