Rooted Connections is being able to understand, untangle, strengthen, and build connections within ourselves, our community, and our support system. Our connections foster meaning and purpose in our daily lives, and promote growth, coping, and resiliency.
Maya Cano, M.A. (she/her/hers)

Maya is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from Adler University. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Florida Gulf Coast University, where she was actively involved in programs supporting neurodivergent youth. Maya has experience working with children and adolescents in therapeutic day school settings, where she provided support through intensive clinical therapy and individualized academic programming in highly structured environments. This work has allowed her to help young clients strengthen emotional regulation, build coping skills, and move toward greater confidence and success across settings. She has experience administering and interpreting psychological assessments for individuals ranging from age four through adulthood, including adults in their 40s. Her assessment experience includes evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder, mood disorders, and learning disabilities.

Maya believes meaningful progress happens through strong collaboration with parents, caregivers, and the broader support system surrounding each child. She values partnering closely with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to understand each young person’s unique strengths, needs, and goals. Her work is grounded in creating a supportive environment where children feel understood and caregivers feel empowered to support growth at home, in school, and in the community. Maya approaches this collaboration with thoughtfulness and care, recognizing that connection, consistency, and trust are often essential parts of lasting progress.

Her approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each child’s individual needs. Maya draws from experience in both private practice and therapeutic day school settings, with training in supporting children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, and autism spectrum disorder. She is committed to building authentic relationships with clients and families while helping children develop the tools they need to thrive across settings. With a calm and genuine presence, Maya strives to create a therapeutic space where children and adolescents feel safe, supported, and encouraged as they grow.
