Chiamaka Ihejirika is a doctoral fellow who strives to create a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. She works with individuals across the lifespan and has particular clinical interests in treating mood disorders, including depression and anxiety, supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, and working with clients from racial and ethnic minority communities. Chiamaka values building authentic therapeutic relationships grounded in empathy, curiosity, and genuine collaboration. Her therapeutic approach is primarily person-centered and incorporates principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping clients increase psychological flexibility, develop self-compassion, clarify their personal values, and build practical skills to navigate life challenges. She believes meaningful change occurs when clients feel safe enough to explore their experiences openly while being supported in taking intentional steps toward a life that feels fulfilling and aligned with what matters most to them.

Chiamaka is committed to fostering genuine, collaborative relationships in which clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to be their authentic selves. She recognizes that each person experiences, values, and cultural background shape how they navigate life challenges and tailors treatment to honor those individual differences. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, Chiamaka works alongside clients to help them cultivate self- awareness, build on their existing strengths, and create meaningful, values-driven change. She believes that healing occurs through a combination of compassionate connection, curiosity, and practical skill-building, allowing clients to move toward greater resilience and a more fulfilling life.
