Amanda Addiego, LCSW provides therapy for adults, children, teens, and families. She specializes in working with individuals who are feeling overwhelmed and impacted by stress, trauma, or life transitions. She offers a supportive, grounded space where people can slow down, feel understood, and begin reconnecting with themselves and their relationships.
With a warm, relational, and trauma informed approach, Amanda views collaboration with clients as the most essential ingredient to therapy. She works to support clients in building emotional awareness, resilience, and meaningful change. Amanda utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and family systems therapy to support both individual growth and stronger connections within families. Amanda also offers specific, trauma focused therapies to help adults and children process past traumas and support healing of both the mind and the body.
Amanda is also passionate about supporting parents as they navigate the balance between caring for their children and tending to their own emotional well being; as well supporting children and families through life’s challenges. She believes healing happens through safe, supportive relationships and strives to meet each client with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
Amanda earned her Master of Clinical Social Work degree from Michigan State University. She has worked in various settings, including not for profit organizations focused on providing trauma care to high risk, high needs, and high support populations. Amanda has specialized experience working with children, adolescents, and parents who have experienced sexual/physical abuse, histories of foster care and adoption, parental separation and reunification, and other forms of trauma, across the lifespan. Amanda is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF CBT).
What sets Amanda apart from other therapists is the emphasis she places on connection. She understands that after a traumatic or deeply stressful experience, connection and corrective life experience are the driving forces of healing.
Outside of therapy, Amanda enjoys staying active, spending time with loved ones, and exploring Chicago. She brings a thoughtful, connected presence into her work, creating space for clients to feel empowered.
