Avery Foster is an LCSW therapist specializing in work with children, adolescents, parents, and individual adults. Avery integrates modalities from child-centered play therapy, art therapy, CBT and DBT. She works best with clients who are experiencing reactions they find confusing and difficult to maneuver, within stressful times of change, loss, and transitions. Working with Avery
involves a trauma-informed and grief-informed approach, using creativity and authenticity to ground, learn, and find the little joys of life even through the hardest days.
Avery’s approach integrates a warm, client-centered space that fosters trust and open communication, with clinical insight that ‘challenges’ and builds on new tools and education to help you move through challenging times. Avery is able to adapt support and skills-building between different age groups at developmentally appropriate levels that serve them best, using play therapy with children and educational talk therapy with caregivers and other adults.
Avery is someone who naturally balances clinical insight and evidenced-based interventions with empathy based, person-centered approaches informed by her lived experiences. Her adaptability, creativity and heart in the work that she does creates a trusting therapeutic relationship and sets clients up for success throughout their journeys of reaching their own goals. Avery uses creative and flexible approaches to shape individual client care, including facilitating personalized art therapy interventions and with children, sometimes bringing in handmade worksheets and therapy skills catered to their interests.
