Rooted Connections means supporting the future by supporting children and families through their challenges.
Catherine Howe, M.A. (she/her/hers)

Catherine is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at Adler University, where she is pursuing a focus in Child and Adolescent Therapy. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and her Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Human Development from Connecticut College. Throughout her education and clinical training, she has worked in private practices, schools, and community mental health settings. Catherine has worked with individuals across the lifespan; however, most of her work has been with children and adolescents between the ages of 18 months to 18 years old, providing individual, parent-child, family, and trauma-focused therapy. Catherine believes that positive change begins with a trusting, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. She strives to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe, heard, and supported. Catherine deeply values diversity and multicultural awareness, recognizing that every client’s experiences, identities, values, and goals are unique. Catherine is committed to meeting clients where they are and providing care that is culturally responsive, affirming, and tailored to each individual’s needs. While Catherine’s work is grounded in a humanistic and client-centered approach, she recognizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. She believes that every person deserves individualized care and adapts her therapeutic style based on each client’s strengths, challenges, and goals. In addition to client-centered talk therapy and positive psychology principles, Catherine has experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients in developing insight, building coping skills, processing difficult experiences, and creating meaningful change.
