Laney earned their Psy.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School. Their clinical experiences include specialized trauma therapy with individuals and families with a variety of life experiences, including complex trauma, single-event posttraumatic stress, depression, anxiety, complex bereavement, ethno-racial trauma, and disrupted attachment. Laney has also worked extensively as a support advocate for individuals who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault, and is trained in sexual assault crisis intervention. Their clinical passions include identity development and relational healing.
Laney approaches therapy through an integrative lens, taking influences from different psychologies of liberation, systems, and attachment. In their work, they draw from training in several trauma-focused frameworks, including Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Keeping Radical Healing in Mind, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Traumatized Children (PCIT-TC), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), as well as from their own lived experience. Their aim in the therapy room is to work together to cultivate growth, autonomy, and empowerment and to facilitate a culturally-responsive environment of healing and self-knowledge. Laney believes that therapy can act as a bridge toward connection and community, and can help us become our best selves.
Beyond therapy, Laney is a nature-lover at heart, and raises succulents at home. Their physical self-care consists of yoga and social dancing, and in their free time Laney loves to bake, to read, and to play video games with friends.
