Clinical Therapist, Registered Art Therapist

Rooted Connections Counseling is all about building that therapeutic rapport between therapist and client. A client is going to have a better therapeutic experience if they feel a connection with the therapist they are working with.
Stephanie Liebl, LCPC, ATR (she/her/hers)

Stephanie Liebl is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and  Registered Art Therapist. As an art therapist, Stephanie values being able to use creativity in her approach to working with clients. This can be literally using art supplies, but also helping clients look at their issues through different perspectives or experimenting with a variety of coping mechanisms. Stephanie also places a focus on building therapeutic rapport and creating a safe space for clients. She finds it is important to allow the client to work at their own pace to achieve their goals- no matter how long that takes. If a client is not into creating artwork, that is okay! If a client only wants to make artwork, that is okay too! Stephanie wants to collaborate with clients and families to create the right type of therapeutic experience for each and every client.

In 2019, Stephanie graduated from Adler University with a Master of Arts in Counseling: Art Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Roosevelt University. Stephanie completed her internship working at Riveredge Behavioral Hospital, where she was hired to work full time following her internship. At Riveredge, Stephanie focused on running art therapy groups for individuals in an inpatient hospital setting, as well as partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Since leaving Riveredge, Stephanie has helped create behavioral health programs at Comer Children’s Hospital,  and worked with clients individually in a private practice setting.

Stephanie has found a focus primarily working with adolescents and young adults. Stephanie believes that due to her being “such an awkward teenager,” she can easily relate to many of the struggles adolescents have as they are working through identity issues and increasing self-esteem, as well as mental health related issues such as anxiety, depression, and self-harming behavior.  Stephanie also has experience working with individuals struggling with trauma, life transitions, stress management, and LGBT+ related issues.
